Inconsistent Portions & Service Could Be Warmer Iโ€™ve been coming to Gung Ho in Bolingbrook pretty regularly, usually about once a month. Sometimes we dine in and other times I pick up, so this review isnโ€™t based on just one visit. The food can be good, which is why I keep coming back, but one thing Iโ€™ve noticed is that the portion sizes and preparation arenโ€™t very consistent from visit to visit. Today, our Orange Chicken was especially disappointing. There was only a small amount of rice, and what little rice we received was practically swimming in sauce. It just didnโ€™t feel like the same portion or presentation weโ€™ve received on previous visits. The bigger disappointment today was the service. I understand restaurants get busy and everyone can have an off day, but the staff could be nicer, friendlier, and warmer toward customers. Today, I honestly felt like I was bothering them simply by being there, which isnโ€™t a great feeling as a returning customer. Iโ€™m giving 3 stars because Iโ€™ve had better experiences here before and I know they can do better. Iโ€™ll likely give them another chance because weโ€™ve been regular customers, but I hope they work on consistency with the food and p

This was a solid 3. The place is new the music was good and a nice menu. I went looking for Ramen. My girlfriend had the pork Ramen and really enjoyed it. (First time) I wanted a seafood Ramen which they did not have.๐Ÿ˜ญ The other options really weren't that great compared to good chinese food from the hood. Both the sesame and the orange chicken were cooked like sweet & sour chicken just with different sauce drizzled over it.๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ and not much flavor.( my other friends choices) I absolutely love crab rangoon๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜...NOT Theirs!๐Ÿ˜ญ it was heavy on the thick cream cheese not that much crab and not enough sweet. My teriyaki rice bowl also left a lot to be desired.. it was just blah and the chicken could have stayed in a tad bit longer. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ It was just okay. I probably won't be back. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ

From the ratings, this place got, I was really expecting a lot more.Don't get me wrong. The ramen was good. I got the Tonkotsu in the broth was rich and flavorful, but the pork was dry. I also got the octopus dumplings, which were horrible. The tiniest little piece of octopus and the dumpling wasn't even cooked all the way almost raw and the chicken karaage was horrible too. Fried to a rubbery consistency, not even crispy, i think they gave me some that had been already made and sitting for a while, served with a watery spicy mayo. The more I think about the experience, the more angry I get. With so many ramen joints in the area, I'll definitely be trying a different one the next time

Iโ€™ve been here regularly and the food hits EVERY SINGLE TIME. My favorite is the Shrimp Kurumi, their sauce taste the exact same as this hotpot place in Chinatown. Canโ€™t go wrong with Tonkotsu ramen. Black Passion fruit tea is a personal favorite of mine when it comes to drinks. Pricing is a bit high but I honestly think the foodโ€™s taste proved it.

This place has that classic ramen spot vibe โ€” lots of wood paneling, deep browns and greens, and some cozy booth seating mixed with regular tables and chairs. The lightingโ€™s warm and pretty inviting, giving the whole place a chill, laid-back feel. Service was decent โ€” nothing super memorable, but friendly enough and everything came out in a reasonable time. We tried the Mongolian Bowl and the General Tsoโ€™s Chicken. Both had a nice kick of spice and were surprisingly flavorful. Definitely a good hit if youโ€™re craving something bold and saucy. One of the more unique touches: each table has a sketchbook where you can doodle or check out what others have drawn โ€” super fun and gives the place some personality. And if youโ€™re into anime, youโ€™re in luck. Posters line the walls and thereโ€™s anime playing on the TVs, which adds to the quirky, playful vibe. Cool little spot overall. Not mind-blowing, but definitely enjoyable, especially if youโ€™re into anime or just want a casual meal in a cozy setting.
